I got my last shot for the trip. In total that makes 15. Thankfully not all had to come this year. I had about half of the necessary ones from earlier trips.

I also sent the title and key to the guy who purchased my motorcycle in Colorado. It made me realize that just a week ago I had 2 car keys, a motorcycle key, a key for my desk at work and I still have 3 for my apartment among others. Tomorrow I will only have 1. 1 key for a simple padlock to use in hostels. I’m actually really looking forward to jumping into a grungy foam mattress at a hostel, it beats the floor I have been sleeping on since my bed and couch sold.

Without a car before I had relied on pizza delivery for dinner. A place had a special on 3 pizzas so I decided to order one with half anchovies since I had never tried it and didn’t know many places that serve it. I learned two things from that $7 pizza. First, anchovies are way too salty to be edible. I am pretty sure my reaction was the same a snail gives when you dump salt on it. Second, if you are moving out and in the process of cleaning your apartment, throw out the anchovy pizza before you unplug the refrigerator for the night to defrost.

Craigslist is scary (efficient)

Sat, July 18
T-minus 6 days

I had never used Craigslist to sell anything before, but I did buy my motorcycle through it. To me there were always too many postings of people selling say a couch for it to seem useful. With a city as large as Los Angeles I thought any post would quickly get moved down by newer ones and it would ultimately be pointless.

Boy was I wrong. I started posting early this morning and within 15 minutes, before I had finished listing everything, I was getting calls. Within an hour people were coming by to buy stuff. The phone never stopped ringing and within 6 hours nearly everything was sold.

As a comparison I had my big items (bed, couch etc) listed in the paper for a week and heard almost nothing. Within 4 hours on Craigslist I had multiple people wanting to buy my size 12 SCUBA gear.

In the flurry of calls today I also got one from the consignment lot. My car sold today too, for 2 grand more than I was offered originally.
